After a seasonable start in the mid-30s, cool air will take over for the afternoon. Look for afternoon high temperatures in the mid-40s, well below the average high in the 50s. While it will be increasingly sunny today, it will also become breezy, as westerly winds gust up to 30 mph. Clear skies tonight will make for ideal viewing of the annual Leonids Meteor Shower. Peak viewing will be after midnight, before the moon rises. Look east and you will see up to 15 meteors per hour. The special thing about these meteors is the velocity. They will be travelling very fast, about 44 miles per second, making for the potential of “fireballs” – those bright streaks across the sky. If you are heading out tonight, layer up as temperatures will be dropping off into the upper-20s and with a breeze, it will feel even colder with the wind chill.
