CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — A man was shot in the head during a targeted home invasion in Cranston.
Col. Michael Winquist said they received a call at about 10:30 p.m. for a report of gunshots being fired on Smith Street.
When officers arrived, Winquist said they found a man shot in the head. His injuries are non-life-threatening.
Police said three people entered the Smith Street home. Two of them were armed, said the colonel.
“They entered the house. The individual inside the house also had a firearm and at some point, there was an exchange of gunfire inside the house,” said Winquist.
Police said that gunfire exchange was led outside of the home, causing several cars to be hit.
Winquist said two of the three suspects fled in a car that they’re actively searching for.
“The people that arrived here are definitely looking for something in that house,” said the colonel.
Winquist said at the time of the shooting, there were children in the home. They were not injured.
Police said the suspects are no strangers to law enforcement, saying they were involved in a home invasion last month.
No arrests have been made yet.
